I previously wrote about getting a targeted 50,000 mile bonus from the Delta American Express. At the time, the public offer was only 30,000 points. For a limited time, the 50,000 mile bonus is available to everyone. If you are thinking about applying for the Delta Gold SkyMiles card from American Express, now is the time to do it. There’s a $95 annual fee that’s waived for the first year. This is generally as good as this offer gets.
The main difference from the original 30,000 mile offer is that you are required to spend $2,000 dollars in three months rather than $1,000. I’d say the extra 20,000 miles is definitely worth the increased spending requirement.

You also get a $50 statement credit if you make a Delta purchase within the first three months. This is easily triggered by buying a food item on a Delta flight or using your Delta Amex to pay for the fees. I booked an award flight with my bonus and triggered the statement credit by paying $5.60 in fees! This offer ends 11/9/2016.
For frequent travelers of Delta, consider the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Card from American Express. After spending $3,000 in three months, you will earn 70,000 bonus miles, a $100 statement credit (after Delta purchase), and 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs). MQMs are used to earn Elite Status. The lowest tier, Silver, requires 25,000 MQMs. While this card will get you less than halfway to Silver, it may be a good option if you frequently fly with Delta. However, there is a $195 annual fee that is not waived.
