The Better Balance Rewards card from Bank of America is a no annual fe credit card designed to reward you for responsibly managing your balance. By paying more than your monthly minimum on time each month, you’ll receive $25 per quarter. If you have a Bank of America checking or savings account, you get an extra $5 per quarter. That’s $120 per year!
Why should I get this card?
Since those of us in the points and miles game always pay our balance in full, this card can get you $100 per year for doing what you do already. This increases to $120 per year if you have a Bank of America checking or savings account. You can receive the quarterly bonus as a statement credit or direct deposit to your Bank of American checking or savings account.
How should I use this card?
There are no other rewards points associated with this card, so I recommend making only one small purchase each month. The best method for using this card is to auto-pay a monthly bill. Netflix is a great option since it’s relatively cheap. Leave the bigger bills to a credit card that earns points or miles. If you don’t want to pay a bill, other ideas are buying a cup of coffee each month or renting a movie from Redbox.
To make sure you are never late on paying the bill (which defeats the entire purpose of having this card), set a checking account to auto-pay your Better Balance Rewards card each month.
Final Thoughts

I recently product changed an old Bank of America Power Rewards card to Better Balance Rewards. Some people don’t think it’s worth the hard pull for this card since it has no sign-up bonus. In my opinion, this is a card that keeps on giving! If you don’t think it’s worth the hard pull by itself, apply for another Bank of America card like Alaska Airlines Visa on the same day. This way you will get two new credit cards and should only see one hard pull on your credit report.
