I’ll admit, our churning has been a bit boring this year since we’ve been going slow with mostly Chase cards. With 2019 coming to a close, we are starting the think about getting the Companion Pass for 2020/2021. Here are our credit card applications and results for Fall 2019.
My Applications
Barclays JetBlue Business Card

I’ve had the JetBlue Plus card before but never got the business card. We have plans to go to Napa this summer for a wedding so this bonus might be able to get us there in Mint!
Annual fee: $99
Result: Pending. About 10 days after I applied, I got a call from Barclays asking to move credit from my AAviator Business card in order to open this card. I agreed and was approved.
Bonus: 50,000 JetBlue points after spending $1,000 in the first 3 months and an additional 10,000 after a purchase with an employee card
Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Performance Business Card

I opened this card to start working on our next Companion Pass. Once we get about halfway through the spending requirement, I’ll apply for the other Southwest business card.
Annual fee: $199
Result: Pending, approved three days later.
Bonus: 70,000 Southwest points after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months.
My Husband’s Applications
Chase Ink Preferred

My husband earned the bonus on the Chase Ink Prefered over two years ago, so we decided it was time to sign up for another.
Annual fee: $95
Result: Pending, approved three days later.
Bonus: 80,000 Chase points after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months.
Chase IHG Rewards Premier Card

I was bummed to have missed the higher sign-up bonus earlier this fall, but we had a specific redemption in mind so we went for it anyway.
Annual fee: $89
Result: Instant approval
Bonus: 80,000 IHG points after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months.
Barclays JetBlue Business Card

I figured we both might as well get the sign-up bonus on this card.
Annual fee: $99
Result: Pending then approved later that day.
Bonus: 50,000 JetBlue points after spending $1,000 in the first 3 months and an additional 10,000 after a purchase with an employee card
Final Thoughts
After a slow beginning to the year, this fall was a step in the right direction for our churning game. After completing the spending requirements, we’ll have earned 350,000 points from various programs. We did, however, shell out almost $600 in annual fees. It was definitely worth it since a third of those annual fees goes towards the ever-cost-saving Companion Pass.
