Things have slowed down a bit since my last results post. My husband is still under 5/24 so we are slowly making our way through a mix of Chase cards and business cards from other banks. Here are our credit card applications and results for Fall 2018.
My Applications
This is the first quarter in a long time that I didn’t open any new cards.
My Husband’s Applications
Chase Ink Cash

Over the past year, he’s opened Chase Ink Preferred and Chase Ink Unlimited. This was the last of the Chase Ink trifecta! This is a great offer for a no annual fee card.
Annual fee: No annual fee
Result: Pending then approved about a week later
Bonus: 50,000 Chase points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months
American Express Hilton Honors Business

This offer is available by making a dummy booking on the Hilton website. The $100 statement credit is a great deal since it offsets the $95 annual fee.
Annual fee: $95
Result: Instant approval
Bonus: 125,000 Hilton points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months and a $100 statement credit after first purchase
American Express Blue Business Plus

This is a low sign-up bonus for a high minimum spending requirement, but I think this card is worth picking up and keeping since it can keep your Amex Membership Rewards points active. I also received 10,000 points for the referral.
Annual fee: No annual fee
Result: Instant approval
Bonus: 10,000 Amex points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months
CitiBusiness / AAdvantage Platinum Select World Mastercard

I’ve already opened two Citi AA business cards this year and decided we should get my husband started on them as well. I was able to match the offer to 75,000 miles by using the online chat feature.
Annual fee: $99, waived first year
Result: Pending then approved
Bonus: 70,000 American Airlines miles after spending $4,000 in 4 months
Final Thoughts
This fall was definitely slow for us since our expenses dropped after our wedding. Even so, we opened 4 new cards that earned us over 250,000 points and miles from the sign-up bonuses alone! I think winter will also be slow as our wallets continue to recover from the wedding, but we may consider using Plastiq to cover our rent.
What’s the current status with CitiBus AA cards? 24 months?
You can keep opening them if you get a mailer that doesn’t have the 24 month language. If the invitation code is nine digits, you can use the mailer even if it’s not in your name.
