One of the best parts of traveling is the food. Peruvian food is known for its Incan and Spanish influence and what better place to try it than Lima! I chose to have dinner at Astrid y Gaston in Lima due to its delicious looking menu, high-rated reviews, and ease of making a reservation. And did I mention it was one of the top 100 restaurants in the world? Here’s my recap of dinner at Astrid y Gaston in Lima, Peru.
Please note the quality of some of the photos is not good because they came from my husband’s phone. Also, Astrid y Gaston has an extensive tasting menu but we decided to go a la carte (mainly because I was suffering from a stomach bug…)
Astrid y Gaston is located in San Isidro, Lima in an old hacienda called Casa Moreyra.
Here’s a picture of the a la carte menu.
We started off with cocktails.
For an appetizer, we shared beef dumplings and short rib buns.
For dinner, we shared the lamb shank. We wanted to order two entrees, but the waitress told us it would have been too much food. It was odd since I’ve never been discouraged from ordering more at a restaurant…
After dinner, while we waited for our dessert to cook, we explored the other rooms of the restaurant including this festive bar area.
Here’s one of the crazy floral displays we stumbled upon.
Lastly, after about 30 minutes, our tarta granny was ready.
