The Mori Building Digital Art Museum: teamLab Borderless is the first of its kind. Prior to its opening in 2018, teamLab Borderless transformed a 10,000 square foot space into an immersive experience through the use of digital art and projections. You may have seen a room full of lanterns on Instagram? That’s part of teamLab Borderless! If you find yourself in Tokyo, be sure to block several hours for this awesome experience. Here are some tips for visiting teamLab Borderless in Tokyo.

TeamLab Borderless is a permanent digital art exhibit in the Mori Building in Odaiba, Tokyo. You can easily get to teamLab Borderless by taking the Yurikamome Line to Aomi Station. The museum is located at Palette Town, a massive entertainment and shopping complex.
Highlights of teamLab Borderless Tokyo
Universe of Water Particles on a Rock Where People Gather
You can’t make a name like that up! This is one of the main attractions of teamLab Borderless. After seeing a picture of this on the teamLab website, I knew we had to check it out. You can see it in the background of this video.
Forest of Resonating Lamps
Everyone’s favorite Instagram shot. You’ll likely have a bit of a wait to get into the room, but it’s worth it.

Crystal World
This installation was my favorite. It’s fun wandering through the maze of LED “crystals” and seeing what color they’ll change to next
Tips for Visiting teamLab Borderless Tokyo
Here are my top tips for visiting teamLab Borderless:
- Buy tickets online: If you want to guarantee entry, make sure to buy tickets online. Tickets can sell out in advance so book early.
- Visit on a weekday afternoon: Tickets are for a specific day, but you can go anytime. We went on a Monday around 4:00pm and it was busy but not terribly crowded. I would be scared to see how busy it gets on a weekend!
- Wear white: The museum uses lots of projected images. By wearing white, you’ll blend right into the exhibit.
- Wear sneakers: This was one of the more tiring things we did in Tokyo. This place is huge! Be sure to wear sneakers so you can take full advantage of the exhibits.
- Eat before going: Related to the point above, I found this museum more tiring than the Louvre! Be sure to eat something before so you can explore longer.
- Stay for 2-4 hours: I wasn’t sure how much time we needed to allot for visiting teamLab Borderless, but I think about three hours is the sweet spot. You may need more time if it’s busy and you find yourself waiting in line for exhibits.
