In my last honeymoon post, I discussed how to book positioning flights. The last thing on my list was booking hotels for Singapore. As a quick recap, we’ll be spending our first nine nights in Japan, followed by two nights in Singapore, three nights in the Maldives, and a final night in Singapore before heading home. I split it up this way mainly so we could book Singapore Suites for the flight home. Here are the hotels I decided to book in Singapore.
Singapore Nights 1 and 2
For our first two nights in Singapore, we’ll be staying at the InterContinental. I used 100,000 IHG points mostly earned through the sign-up bonus for the Chase IHG credit card. The value of this stay is $554.60.
Our Last Night of the Honeymoon
We’re spending our last night of the honeymoon at the Conrad Centennial Singapore. I recently received a free weekend night certificate from Hilton which was part of my sign-up offer for the Hilton Surpass from Amex. I received the free certificate a few weeks after my cardmember anniversary. Weirdly enough, I was never charged the annual fee a second time. I’ll take it!
I ended up applying this certificate to my Conrad Maldives reservation so I got 95,000 points back. They were nice enough to let me use it even though my stay doesn’t include any weekend nights. I then applied 79,000 points to book a Centennial Suite at the Conrad Singapore, worth about $362.66. I could have used fewer points for a smaller room, but I decided to go “all out” for our last night.
For 179,000 points, we’re getting $917.26 worth of hotels in Singapore. While the Marina Bay Sands was enticing, I really wanted to keep my out-of-pocket expenses low on this trip. It’s strange that all of the hotels for our honeymoon ended up being Ritz Carlton, InterContinental, or Conrad. An with that, our honeymoon planning is complete! Check out the final stats below.
Points spent: 1,303,000
Total value: $67,698.23
Out-of-pocket cost: $1,722.23
