I was in Tokyo at the end of 2018 for my honeymoon and we were lucky enough to stay at the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo. This was the first Ritz I’ve stayed at while traveling. My only other Ritz-Carlton experience was in Boston for our wedding so of course, they made sure everything was perfect. I’m not sure if it was a combination of the excellent service that is typical of Japan or the Ritz-Carlton touch, but our stay was wonderful and I highly recommend this hotel. Here’s my review of the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo.
Booking the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo with Points
With the roll-out of Marriott Bonvoy came a devaluation of the highest tier properties. This hotel was previously available for 70,000 points per night but it has since increased to 85,000 points per night. It can be difficult to find award availability during busy times like cherry blossom season.

Ritz-Carlton Tokyo Location
The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo is located near Tokyo Midtown in the Roppongi district. Roppongi is known for luxury shopping and nightlife so you can’t go wrong with the location. The hotel provides direct access to Tokyo Midtown, a mixed-use development with a massive mall and lots of food options. The hotel is about a five-minute walk from Roppongi Station which is essential for taking the subway to different neighborhoods and sites.
When we arrived at Tokyo Station after taking the Narita Express, we made the mistake of taking the subway to Nogizaka Station instead of Roppongi. Nogizaka isn’t exactly far, but you will approach the hotel from the Hinokicho Park side. While this is technically the front of the hotel, it’s extremely confusing to walk around because of how the road is set up. Once we realized, we solely entered and exited from the Tokyo Midtown / Roppogni Station side.
Dining and Amenities at the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo
The hotel has so many restaurants and amenities, you could stay for a week and never leave the building. In addition to several restaurants (including a Michelin starred restaurant, Azure 45), there is a huge lounge and bar in the lobby with impressive views and a cafe and deli on the ground floor near the Tokyo Midtown entrance. Amenities include a full-service spa, fitness center, and lap pool.
Lobby
The lobby of the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo is located on the 45th floor with panoramic windows surrounding the lobby lounge and bar.

The lounge is located straight ahead after exiting the elevators. To the right is the concierge desk. The reception desk is located at the far end of the lobby by a bay of elevators that lead up to the guest rooms.

Besides the views, I loved the floral arrangements throughout the lobby including this one in front of reception.

Deluxe King with Mt. Fuji View
There are 245 guest rooms and suites at the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo some of which have views of Tokyo Tower and Mt. Fuji. We stayed in a Tokyo Deluxe Room and got lucky with a Mt. Fuji view! Other guest rooms face Shinjuku.

The room had a tiny hallway with the bathroom to the left and bedroom straight ahead.

By the window were two armchairs and a small end table.

The room was a decent size. It was large enough to fit the armchairs, bed, and a desk with two additional chairs.

In front of the bed was a TV and two large closets.

One of them had space to hang clothes.

The other had drawers and a place to store luggage. The top drawers stored a safe and two sets of pajamas.

Across from the bathroom was the coffee and tea station. Hotels never seem to provide enough Nespresso pods, but the staff was great about bringing up extras as we needed them.

The bathroom was large with two separate sinks. I really liked this setup because it gave me enough space to lay out all of my stuff without getting in my husband’s way. The shower was located between the two sinks.

To the left of the sinks were an enclosed toilet and a bathtub.

Here’s a close up of the shower. I think the shower could have used a little updating since luxury hotels tend to have more impressive showers.

This wouldn’t be Japan if the toilet wasn’t TOTO! This thing had a bidet feature with different options for water pressure and position. My favorite part as the heated seat.

As with all Ritz-Carlton’s, they had every toiletry you could potentially need while away from home.

One more shot of the view because it was really spectacular!

Final Thoughts
We really enjoyed our stay at the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo. The room was spacious and well-equipped, and the staff did a good job of making sure our stay went well. For example, I sent a pocket WiFi to the hotel before arriving in Japan and it was already in our room when we checked in. We also used the concierge to book lunch at Sushi Ya and they left a confirmation letter in our room upon our arrival. If you have the points or the money, the Ritz-Carlton is an excellent choice for your time in Tokyo.

I was able to stay here during cherry blossom season last year by using a 7-night Marriott package. It really is a wonderful hotel. The club lounge was probably the nicest I have ever visited with several choices of excellent food, the pool/hot tub area was usually empty and quite relaxing in the evening, and the staff were simply the best I have ever encountered at any hotel.
I wish we had access to the club lounge. Maybe next time!
