I live in Boston, but recently got married at the Ritz-Carlton Boston so I got to spend two nights in a Luxury Suite. The Ritz-Carlton Boston is located on Avery Street across the street from Boston Common. Boston is pretty walkable, but this is a great location for accessing downtown, Back Bay, and the South End.
Since I was staying here under special circumstances, I can’t comment on the check-in process since I didn’t end up checking myself in. The lobby is somewhat small and opens up to the Avery Bar which unfortunately was closed due to the strike. To the right of the entrance is the Artisan Bistro, which was offering a limited menu.
The classic but modern style of the hotel was carried throughout common spaces and hallways.
The suite opened up into a small hallway with a coat closet on the left and a half bathroom on the right.
We were using the suite for hair and makeup the day of the wedding so the half bath was perfect for my bridesmaids to use.
The living room consisted of a dining area and a seating area. You’ll notice there are some extra stools and mirrors in the suite because of wedding prep.
When first entering the room, there was a chaise lounge to the left and a mini bar to the right.
I didn’t take a good look at the mini bar, but I really liked the piece of furniture it was housed in. Classy touch!
The dining area wasn’t really separated from the seating area, but I think it fit nicely in this space. There was a bottle of wine and macarons set out when I arrived.
The blue couch in the seating area looks hard but it was surprisingly really comfortable! A flat screen TV rounded out the seating area, but the position of the chairs and couch wasn’t conducive to watching TV.
Through the frosted double doors was the bedroom with a king bed.
There was also a TV and small seating area in the bedroom. I never understand why TVs are on when you first enter a hotel room…
Last but not least, the master bathroom! The birch tree and pear wallpaper was a little weird, but I kind of liked it. The bathroom featured Jack and Jill sinks, a shower, tub, and separate toilet.
I didn’t get a chance to take a bath but it sure looked inviting.
The Ritz-Carlton toiletries are Asprey. I really liked the scent, Purple Water. The bathroom was well stocked with all of the usual toiletries, but I appreciated that they provided a dental kit as well.
The toilet room was located to the left of the sinks.
The shower was a decent size and had good water pressure. There were additional Asprey toiletries in the shower.
Final Thoughts
I enjoyed my stay at the Ritz-Carlton Boston. It’s strange reviewing a hotel in the city that I live in since I don’t have a good sense of what other hotels are like here, but it definitely lived up to the Ritz-Carlton name. The room was well-equipped and beautifully designed, and the location of the hotel can’t be beat. I’d love to stay here again…maybe for my 5th anniversary!
