I’m a huge fan of using online shopping portals to earn points and miles. I used to be a big cash back girl, but I love seeing my points and miles balances increase more than I like getting $2 back from J.Crew. I usually shop through Alaska Airlines or American Airlines since they tend to have good rates for earning miles and I’ve never had an issue getting my miles to post.

Around Mother’s Day, there are a zillion amazing deals for buying flowers. I always send my mom a bouquet so it’s a great chance to pick up some extra miles. This past Mother’s Day, the Chase Ultimate Rewards shopping portal was offering 30x points for purchases at ProFlowers. I’d never used Chase’s portal before, but this was an amazing deal I couldn’t pass up.
Well, I’m sure you can guess where this is going. A few weeks went by and there was no sign of the 1,250 Chase points I should have earned on my purchase. I sent Chase a secure message and all they could tell me was that there was no record of my purchase through their portal. I know for a fact that I clicked through using their site. I also didn’t use any promotion codes since that can exclude you from getting your points.

Chase is pretty unhelpful in situations like this. I understand they would just have to take my word for it, but it’s a huge bummer when I chose to use ProFlowers for the sole purpose of getting these points. This was my first experience with Chase’s shopping portal and it makes me scared to use it going forward. I’m just glad my boyfriend went with the 1-800-FLOWERS American Airlines deal (combined with an Amex offer!) instead of shopping with Chase when he bought flowers for his mom.
Anyone else miss out on the 30x ProFlowers bonus for this reason?
