We started off our honeymoon the night before Thanksgiving with a stay at the Crowne Plaza JFK. We were flying Japan Airlines First Class to Tokyo and I made sure we arrived at JFK with enough time to check out the Lufthansa Senator Lounge.
The lounge is located in Terminal 1 past security and is open daily from 8am to 9:30pm. The Lufthansa lounges at JFK are stacked one on top of the other. On the first floor, you’ll find the business class lounge, followed by the Senator lounge on the second floor, and the first class wine and dine level (for Lufthansa first class) on the third floor. You can access the Lufthansa Senator Lounge if you are flying first class on Lufthansa, Star Alliance, or JAL or if you are a Star Alliance Gold member.

After locating the lounge, we checked in at reception and got a quick glimpse of the business class lounge. Not bad, but I heard the Senator Lounge was even better.

We were then directed to the Senator Lounge on the second floor. The lounge had been open for about an hour and a half and wasn’t very busy.

The lounge was spacious with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. You can see the wine and dine level on the third floor.

The lounge offered great views of the tarmac.

There was also a full-service bar. I stuck with coffee since it was only 9:30am. I figured I could hold out for a glass of Cristal on Japan Airlines.

The food options were decent but not as extensive as I’ve seen elsewhere. First, there was a coffee and tea station. There was also a soda fountain.

To the right of the drinks were some cute snack bowls. Reese’s Pieces for the win!

There was also a fruit basket and some baked goods.

The main food buffet kicked off with a salad bar.

It was breakfast time so there were American and Asian options including noodles, sausage patties, hard-boiled eggs, and scrambled eggs.

Last but not least were the soups. I had a cup of pumpkin bisque since it was Thanksgiving after all! After my meal, I located the bathrooms in the back left corner of the lounge.

The women’s room wasn’t huge, but it was clean and modern.

The bathroom had multiple stalls but at least the door was floor to ceiling for extra privacy.
Final Thoughts
The Lufthansa Senator Lounge was spacious and uncrowded which can be rare for lounges these days. The decor is modern and overall the lounge is well maintained. This is one of the nicer lounges I’ve been to in the United States. I enjoyed our leisurely breakfast looking out over the tarmac. Overall, the Lufthansa Senator Lounge provided a relaxing start to our epic honeymoon!
