April may be the cruelest month, but there are no shortage of credit cards offers to get you through until May. The increased sign-up bonuses on the Delta cards from Amex are still available. If you’ve already received the bonus on the personal card, consider trying the business version. You can also get the Marriott Rewards Premier from Chase without an annual fee! Here’s the top list of credit card sign-up bonuses for April 2018.
Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card from Chase
- 75,000 points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months
- $85 annual fee, waived first year
This card previously offered an 80,000 point sign-up bonus but the annual fee was not waived. I’d much rather pay no annual fee and get 5,000 fewer points since one of my main goals with churning is to decrease my out-of-pocket expense. Keeping the card after one year may be worth it since it comes with a free night certificate for a category 1-5 Marriott each year!
Chase Ink Preferred
- 80,000 points after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months
- $95 annual fee
This is currently Chase’s highest bonus on a card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Points are worth 1.25x when redeemed on Chase’s portal. You can also transfer to Chase’s travel partners at a 1:1 ratio. You’ll earn 3x points on travel purchases and business-related expenses like shipping purchases, Internet, cable and phone services, and social media/online advertising. Might as well pay some bills with this card!
Chase Sapphire Reserve
- 50,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months
- $450 annual fee
While the sign-up bonus is smaller, Chase Sapphire Reserve is still one of the best cards around for its travel protection benefits. I still think it’s worth getting this card for the 50,000 point sign-up bonus and possibly keeping it since the annual fee is only $150 if you deduct the $300 travel credit. Note: You can no longer get both the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Chase Sapphire Reserve.
Chase Sapphire Preferred
- 50,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months
- Earn 5,000 points for adding an authorized user
- $95 annual fee, waived the first year
You can no longer get both Chase Sapphire credit cards at the same time. If you’re just going after the bonus and don’t care about card benefits, then I’d recommend getting Chase Sapphire Preferred because the annual fee is waived for the first year.
Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus from Chase
- 50,000 points after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months
- $69 annual fee
While we’ve seen 60,000 point offers in the past, 50,000 points is still a really good deal, especially if you are going after the Companion Pass. You can also get 50,000 points from the Premier card though the annual fee is $99. I recommend getting the Plus over the Premier since the annual fee is slightly lower.
Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business Card from Chase
- 60,000 points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months
- $99 annual fee
You can pair the Southwest business card with one of the two personal cards for an easy Companion Pass. It’s still early in 2018 so if you meet the spending requirements quickly, you will have free flights for your Companion for almost two full years!
Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express
- 50,000 miles after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months plus an additional 10,000 miles after spending an additional $1,000 in the first 6 months
- $50 statement credit after making a Delta purchase in the first 3 months
- $95 annual fee, waived first year
60,000 miles is a great offer for the Gold Delta card. It is also fairly simple to get the $50 statement credit; I paid $5.60 in fees on an award booking to trigger it. For those looking to build up their SkyMiles account, now’s the time to do it. As a note, SkyMiles never expire but they can be devalued over time. If you already got the personal card, you can sign up for the business version here for the same sign-up bonus offer.
Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express
- 70,000 miles and 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months
- $100 statement credit after making a Delta purchase in the first 3 months
- $195 annual fee
The Platinum Delta card from Amex comes with a $195 annual fee, but is a great option for those who are trying to earn elite status with the airline. The first level of Medallion Status is Silver which can be earned after 25,000 MQMs. With the Platinum card, you’re almost halfway there! If you get the business version, which is offering a similar sign-up bonus, you’ll only be 5,000 MQMs short of Silver status. Even if you aren’t after Platinum Status this card is a great pick for frequent flyers on Delta since the $100 statement credit can help offset the annual fee.
Blue Business Plus from American Express
- 10,000 points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months
- No annual fee
This isn’t a travel card per se, but it’s one of the best ways to earn Amex Membership Rewards points which are great for travel! This card earns 2x points on all purchases up to $50,000 with no category restrictions. And the best part…no annual fee! The sign-up bonus isn’t the best, but this card was previously offered without one. I think this card is worth it just for the 2x points and no annual fee.
Barclaycard JetBlue Plus
- 40,000 points after spending $1,000 in the first 90 days
- $99 annual fee
While we previously saw an offer of 60,000 points on this card, 40,000 is still a great deal, especially if you are a frequent traveler on JetBlue. As a cardholder, you get a 10% rebate when you redeem points. Other perks include 5,000 bonus points every year, 50% savings on in-flight purchases, and a free checked bag.
Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select Business Card
- 60,000 miles after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months
- $95 annual fee, waived first year
This increased sign-up offer is perfect if you’re looking to earn some American Airlines miles. Keep in mind that you can only get the bonus if you haven’t opened or closed any American Airlines product from CitiBusiness in the past 24 months. This rule works separately for personal and business cards so you can open the business card even if you’ve recently received the bonus for a personal American Airlines card from Citi.
Barclaycard AAdvantage Aviator Red World Elite Mastercard
- 50,000 miles when you make your first purchase in the first 90 days and pay the annual fee
- $95 annual fee
It’s rare these days to see an offer with such a high bonus without a spending requirement. You’re essentially “buying” miles for the cost of the annual fee which is $95. It would cost over $1,000 if you were to buy 50,000 miles on the American Airlines website. Sweet!
U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve
- 50,000 bonus points worth $750 on travel after spending $4,500 in the first 90 days
- $400 annual fee
In 2017, U.S. Bank introduced an exciting new travel rewards card. But there’s a catch, you can only get the card if you’re a current U.S. Bank customer. While the card has a $400 annual fee, the $325 annual travel credit helps offset it. Other perks include 12 Gogo in-flight Wi-Fi passes per year, 4 Priority Pass lounge visits per year, and a $100 statement credit for Global Entry. You’ll also earn 3x points on travel purchases and mobile wallet spending. This offer will be around for a while so you can always become a U.S. Bank customer, wait a month, and then apply for the card.
