I have an exciting trip to Italy planned for this summer. My boyfriend and I will be traveling to Rome, Florence, Venice, and Milan. We only have one night in Milan before flying back to Boston, so of course, I wanted to try out the Park Hyatt Milan.
I’ve been a little low on Chase Ultimate Rewards points after booking this trip, so I originally booked STRAFhotel Milan using 12,000 Starpoints. This hotel has an amazing location, but it looked a bit small and dark. There are so many posts on blogs about the Park Hyatt Milan so I always had it in the back of my mind when planning this trip.
This spring, I earned about 12,000 Chase points booking my upcoming cruise to Alaska (yay for 26th birthdays and generous Dads!). Since Plastiq started earning 3x points with Chase Sapphire Reserve, I’ve paid my $3,000 per month rent twice. The first time, my fee was only $45 since a generous soul had used my referral link (you, too, can be a generous soul by signing up here). The second time, I had no fee since I opted to sign up for 6 months of scheduled payments. So for my first two Plastiq payments, I earned 18,135 Chase Ultimate Rewards points for $45.
I’m really good at earning points and miles but a bit stingy when it comes to redeeming them. I don’t have all that much vacation time to travel so it’s not like I need to do everything on a budget to be able to “afford” more trips. My mentality around how I spend my points and miles is slowly shifting toward the more extravagant. I loved staying at the Park Hyatt Chicago, so I decided why not treat yo self. The award availability was surprisingly good throughout July so I had no problem finding a room for the night we’d be in Milan. I sent my 30,000 Chase points over to Hyatt, booked my room, and canceled my night at STRAF. Spending $45 to stay at a hotel worth over $700 is a pretty great deal. Thanks, Plastiq!
